This note covers

Dermatophytosis, Dematiaceae and Subcutaneous Mycoses, Pathogenic Yeast:
Candidiasis, Pathogenic Yeasts: Neoformans Cryptococcosis, Histoplasmosis and
Ajellomyces (Histoplasma) capsulatum, Blastomycosis, Coccidioidomycosis and
Coccidioides immitis, Aspergillosis and Mushrooms.
The main
purpose of the book, as its title implies, is to serve as a primer. The contents
are divided into two parts. The first deals with the clinical, theoretical and
experimental aspects of the subject, the second outlines the laboratory
procedures useful in examining a patient suspected of having one of the various
mycoses.
The
following pages represent in a much extended form the lectures and laboratory
exercises given by the author before his botanic classes at the University of
Pennsylvania, and before public audiences else- where, especially, Farmers'
Institutes with which he has had three years' experience as a lecturer in
Pennsylvania. The arrangement of the text has been suggested by the needs
of the classroom and from an acquaintance with similar work in other colleges
and universities in America.
